How To Stay Healthy During the Holidays (Part 3)

Just like that, Christmas is next week! I can’t wait to celebrate in Nashville. If you’ve been keeping up with our posts, you’ll know that we’ve been trying to help you keep the holidays in check when it comes to your health, food and nutrition, and we hope these quick tips have helped you make more informed choices. In our final instalment of this series, we share two more pieces of advice to help you take on the holidays in Nashville without giving in to every candy cane that comes along. (Missed our post last week? Read it here!)

Holiday Help #4: Keep the indulgent meals to a minimum.

When the holiday parties roll around in Nashville, we seem to reach for every delicious cheese, baked goods or appetizer. However, the buildup of sugar and salt from these foods is bound to leave you feeling constantly bloated and will trigger your body to crave the same kind of foods over and over again, rather than healthier alternatives.

Solution: Keep your treats to once a week. Rather than going all out at every party, try minimize your splurges to just one event a week.

Holiday Help #5: Don’t break out the sweatpants for big meals.

We all do it: knowing that we’re in for a big feast at home in Nashville, we often turn to the stretchiest of waistbands to allow us to fill up to the brim. But we say no! This is basically an invitation to overindulge and your body will not love you for it afterwards.

Solution: Break out the skinny jeans, blazers and bodycon dresses - outfits that make you feel sleek. This will help you to eat only what you can handle, and not for the sake of it. Plus, you’ll look great, too!
